In Project OVD 525, lighting plays a pivotal role in amplifying the architectural elegance of a contemporary Atlantic Seaboard home. Designed by the award-winning Three14 Architects, this project demanded a lighting design that seamlessly complemented the minimalist and refined structure of the space. The result is a lighting solution that embraces the essence of "less is more," enhancing the perception of the architecture while fostering a dreamlike ambiance.
The lighting design centers on the interplay of light and shadow, achieved through luminous layering. By playing with light and dark, we create a dynamic spatial experience, emphasizing visual depth and enhancing the flow of the space. The design is focused on enhancing the architecture’s lines and volumes, offering a sense of fluidity throughout the home.

A particular focus was placed on the ensuite bathroom, where clean, uncluttered ceilings were paired with functional task lighting, especially in the mirrors at the vanities. These areas required precise lighting to serve both practical and aesthetic purposes. The lighting here is integrated and subtle, offering functional illumination while contributing to the overall contemporary design of the space.
The key to this project’s lighting is its use of indirect wall lighting, which provides both task and ambient light. These fixtures offer diffused, gentle illumination, perfectly suited for reflective surfaces like mirrors, while also enhancing the broader spatial experience. This design approach ensures that every inch of the home is bathed in harmonious light, without compromising the minimalist vision.
Through thoughtful and refined lighting solutions, we have not only illuminated this stunning home but also highlighted its architecture in a way that supports both form and function. The integration of light serves as both a practical tool and a design element that deepens the connection between the spaces.
